A Poem for Thought

True Friendship

In a tech savvy world promise is endless
But its time that makes the difference
When it comes to making a true friendship

An instance look becomes the connection
Attraction being that of reverence
In a tech savvy world promise is endless

Then words flow that makes it precious
As the connection becomes one's preference
When it comes to making a true friendship

However, still not sure as time does slow
And excitement enters the picture
Where true friendship becomes a lasting flow

Hope then sets in place as its structure
For in this connection friendship's potential
Where beyond attraction becomes richer

Time has a place that's deferential
In a tech savvy world promise is endless
Where patience becomes essential
When it comes to making a true friendship

Thoughts: In a world of instant it can become hard in making a true friendship as true friendship can sometimes take time. These days it seems we have to do a great deal of reading between the lines when connecting on Social Media in making a true friend. Talking with others is great, but its only words and words any one can say and can say anything; that's where reading between the lines becomes necessary in making a true friendship. Most times, I guess, one should just be true to yourself and over time pray the other person is being true in making a true friendship.

A Poem for Thought

  Opposites Attract

Makes reasonable why one makes contact
For the interaction balances for each
As in this world opposites attract

The relationship is not lacked
As sometimes it can become a reach
Makes reasonable why one makes contact

Where one is lacking the other intact
Making the relationship as peach
As in this world opposites attract

One shy sometimes draws to one outgoing
Keeping the social spirit in balance
Allowing both room in growing

For instance: sin of the Lord is absence
Yet to sinners His attraction be
An attraction that gives life a rebalance

Seems the Lord to this He did foresee
Makes reasonable why one makes contact
For our sinful souls with Him are set free
As in this world opposites attract
      ©Doris Elaine

Thoughts: Makes since why opposites attract in this world as seems that to be from the beginning. As the Lord's attraction to sinners is clear and that be His purpose; among many purposes. Perhaps one's purpose is to help the next being with where that being is lacking you are experienced; to help each other. Although many don't see it that way. Just how boring and un-useful would this world be if we where all alike. As some try to have relationships where the two are exactly alike or share exact interest and many times these relationships end up not working. Don't take me wrong, its good to have some of the same interest, really depending; but how much better in helping each other through this life if the relationship includes some opposite attraction. As from the beginning, with the Lord, in this world opposites attract.

New "Words of Inpiration" Poem

 What Could Have Been

A lie told out of fear had been done
In Egypt beauty's reaction; death's door
Without realizing what could have been

Abram's concern of self he didn't ignore
Because of Sari's beauty he feared his demise
As deceitfulness then did pour

For to this lie him granted supplies
Sari's beauty the Egyptians did like
In this generosity, no surprise

But when found out ordered to take a hike
Although gain in supplies not the intent
His lie left in his spirit a strike

As his chance to testify was spent
Fear of his life and not in God he trust
Was then greatly lost in this event

As due his concern he did mistrust
A lie told out of fear had been done
If only to God his fears entrust
He would have realized what could have been

Inspiration: Book of Genesis, Chapter 12:11-20. Key Verses 11-13 "And it came to pass, when he was close to entering Egypt, that he said to his wife Sari, "Indeed I know that you are a women of beautiful countenance. Therefore it will happen, when the Egyptians see you, that they will say, "This is his wife'; and they will kill me, but they will let you live. Please say you are my sister, that it may be well with me for your sake, and that I may live because of you" (NKJV). And Verses 15-16 "The princes of Pharaoh saw her and commended her to Pharaoh. And the women was taken to Pharaoh's house. He treated Abram well for her sake. He had sheep, oxen, male donkeys, male and female servants, female donkeys, and camels" (NKJV). And Verses 18-20 "And Pharaoh called Abram and said "What is this you have done to me? Why did you tell me that she was your wife? Why did you say. She is my sister? I might have taken her as my wife. Now there fore, here is your wife; take her and go away." So Pharaoh commanded his men concerning him; and they sent him away, with his wife and all he had" (NKJV).

A Poem for Thought

May or may not be in book; not sure yet!

Transparency: A Virtue

Pretenders hide their goal to hurt you
Where some pretend to be what they are not
But true transparency is a virtue

So many play games; their purpose sought
Deception being a tool in winning
Until it seen through and one is caught

Relationship lost; the one is grinning
Walking away with no hurt feelings
For the game was theirs from the beginning

While the other spends time in healings
For as was thought this one was real
Time in recovery from the bad dealings

Hope in finding one that is the real deal
Remaining real to self and others to see
For real you've been to one's appeal

When real to self morals become key
Though pretenders hide their goal to hurt you
Your ethics keep as you do agree
True transparency becomes a virtue

Thoughts: Today moral and ethical standards in presentation of one's self is becoming more and more rare. Especially with Social Media making deception possible. Read meaning to Virtue according to Merriam-Webster dictionary at https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/virtue.  and meaning to Transparency at https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/transparency. When told by your boss you are the most honest, genuine, and transparent person at your job and that others can learn from you says a great deal about your presentation of self. But, what is crazy is when all you are doing is being yourself. Makes one wonder where did being your self in being transparent stop being the norm. And, in doing so, one having to become cautious of others. Good to always be yourself, no matter what the dealing is with another because today transparency is a virtue.

A little advice

Looking back over some of my poetry I noticed in writing them, if I was stressed it showed in the poetry. I do enjoy very much writing and sharing poems. And yes sometimes it is a challenge, but a challenge I enjoy. However, if you don’t want your aggravation to show in your poems then I would advise not to write them when your stressed. In this, however, I guess it depends on what you are expressing in the poem. Just saying!

What is Poetry?

Due the sensitive subject matter of my current Poetry Book project (Words of Inspiration-Genesis) have decided to try to express what poetry is and my objective in deciding to write poem books while reading through the Bible. For me, it's strictly all about inspirational expression, thought, and spiritual engagement!

First, although there isn't a definitive determination to define what is poetry, and thou over time poetry has changed-somewhat-and linguistic fragmentation has been given to poetry, it remains as an artful and mindful expression to/from/for thought. Drawing from Wikipedia, poetry.org gives a reasonable conclusion to what is poetry:

"Poetry (ancient Greek: ποιεω (poieo) = I create) is an art form in which human language is used for its aesthetic qualities in addition to, or instead of, its notional and semantic content. It consist of oral or literary works in which language is used in a manner that is felt by its user and audience to differ from ordinary prose.

It may use condensed or compressed form to convey emotion or ideas to the reader's or listener's mind or ear; it may also use devices such as assonance and repetition to achieve musical or incantatory effects. Poems frequently rely for their effect on imagery, word association, and the musical qualities of the language used. The interactive layering of all these effects to generate meaning is what marks poetry.

Because of its nature of emphasising linguistic form rather than using language purely for its content, poetry is notoriously difficult to translate from one language into another; a possible exception to this might be the Hebrew Psalms, where the beauty is found more in the balance of ideas than in specific vocabulary. In most poetry, it is the connotations and the "baggage" that words carry (the weight of words) that are most important. These shades and nuances of meaning can be difficult to interpret and can cause different readers to "hear" a particular piece of poetry differently. While there are reasonable interpretations, there can never be a definite interpretation" (2005, poetry.org. What is poetry,  ¶ 1-3, http://www.poetry.org/whatis.htm).

Secondly, My current book project (Words of Inspiration-Genesis) is not to be taken as a study guide to the Bible or anything of the sort. Although, I do study God's Word and are partaking of an extensive Bible study course, am in no way a theologian, pastor, nor fluent in it's text or/and meaning. Simply am a Christian inspired by the word of God and eager to learn His Word. Thus, my objective to this book project and preceding Words of Inspiration poem books is to express this inspiration. I encourage others to read and study the Bible, God's Word in drawing near to God and our Lord Jesus Christ in finding the truth for yourself.

A Poem for Thought

What Am I Learning

Looking what I'm learning, It's discerning
For something's are not needed for me
Asking myself, what am I learning

I wonder to what this learning concerning
For what this learning brought I see
Looking what I'm learning, It's discerning

Refuse criminality for earning
For behind bars I will not be
Asking myself, what am I learning

Caring to learn my spiritual need
I will not allow force beyond this
Avoiding my learning of greed

As to social the world reflects as bliss
For friends of many, I only need few
To media drama brings learning amiss

My time in learning to this I knew
Looking what I'm learning, It's discerning
For my spirit to this does give a clue
Asking myself, what am I learning
      ©Doris Elaine

Thoughts: While experience does equal learning; does that mean, we have to experience everything this world offers or what everyone else is experiencing? Such as criminality in ripping people off. Is this experience really a learning necessity or simply a way of getting ahead in a very wrongful manner. And Social Media where it seems to be a learning experience of drama to how many friends one has and/or the drama centered around these friends; A worldly experience of this kind I care not for, as I only need a few real friends. And there are many other worldly experience people partake in simple because everyone else is doing it. As maturing Christians we learn what to discern as necessary experience in asking what am I learning!
