A Poem for Thought

Fun is Allowed

Although to the Lord your being is vowed
As human we learn to relax and laugh
In being Christian, fun is allowed

A laughter in joy swell to that out loud
Giving yourself freely on His behalf
As to the Lord your being is vowed

So special to Him our laughter made proud
Not like Aaron and the golden calf
But, being a Christian, fun is allowed

Only know it's in morals and motive
That God allows moments of joy
As in His Words the Apostles wrote of

Life He created for us to enjoy
Expecting us to live in Him happy
To this a laughter our voice deploy

But, unmoral motives can make unhappy
As to the Lord your being is vowed
Cheerful we be, not as wicked happy
Being a Christian SOME fun is allowed

Thoughts: You know, there is a huge misconception that being a Christian eliminates all fun in one's life. That's not true! As a matter of fact, being a Christian is very exciting; especially when one see's the Lord working in one's life, and that gives many happy, fun, and awesome moments. It just depends on the circumstances of one's fun. God is not trying to make us unhappy in following Him, nor trying to spoil our fun; quite the opposite. It is a joy in knowing our creator and all the things He is and will bless us with in Him by our side. Excitement and happy fills the air when one gives themselves to the Lord. The journey home to Him is awesome and filled with many happy moments. "He who heeds the word wisely will find good, And whoever trusts in the Lord, happy is he" (Proverbs 14:21. NKJV). Remember, God wants you to be happy, in being a Christian fun is allowed!

A Poem for Thought

Moral Decay is No Excuse

Purity is all about what you choose
Today's society is morally corrupt
But moral decay is no excuse

For a moment of pleasure, what you loose
Inner standards of morals then interrupt
Purity is all about what you choose

Living life to that of society's views
Where one's Holy Spirit can be disrupt
Purity is all about what you choose

Although the world says it's impossible
We can walk in spirit of purity
As Christ's guidance makes it possible

Treasure and guard it with His security
It's a prize that's worth holding onto tight
One should protect it in obscurity

When in the world you've given into sight
Purity is all about what you choose
In choosing Christ in this He gives you light
Knowing moral decay is no excuse

Thoughts: Even in a society of moral decay, it is possible to stay pure. Although, most look at staying sexually pure until marriage or practicing abstinence as archaic-like something out of the history books-and call it completely irrelevant or impractical in today's society. The only difference in today's society and in the Biblical society is technology where impurity can be more widely broadcast. Our society today is no more morally decayed than it was in the Biblical days. Some religions in Biblical days even practiced sexual activities as part of their rituals. With God purity is possible and once one gets that realization, he or she will experience the supernatural power of God in his or her life.  Purity is a prized possession that is both powerful and protecting. Powerful purity because the Holy Spirit lives within you as a confessed Christian and He is a pure and powerful entity that can empower you through temptation in maintaining  your prize and privilege of purity. Protecting purity comes from the consequences of impurity; such impacting and negative consequences as physical, emotional, relational, and spiritual damages that impurity creates. 1 Corinthians 6:13 says "Now the body is not for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body" (NKJV). And "Or did you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you where bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's" (1 Corinthians 6:19-20. NKJV). In knowing this, one should want to protect the precious gift of purity. Now some may be thinking, it's too late. But, our God is a God of second chances. Although, the world may say impossible, the Lord says possible. The Lord is a God of secondary purity and of defeating the impossible. It may just take longer than being birthed into purity; but, is possible with God. Purity is not just one who has not had sex-Yes Mostly-but it is also a heart, soul, and mind purity. Remaining or maintaining purity also is not a burden, nor an obligation; it's a privilege. In a world where most think purity is ancient and impossible, the Lord says come with Me, I will show you how to achieve purity through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Know that purity is a gift that warrants your protection and in safe guarding that gift moral decay is no excuse.

Note: Have you ever heard about dimensioning return? Remember the first time you went to the beach, how exciting that was for you. Every sense was heightened in taking in that experience as a fabulous one. The sound of the waves rushing onto the beach was fantastic, the sand moving between your toes and the scene of a never ending water world was an experience all new to you. It was very exciting. But, now you have gone to that same beach many times and the excitement isn't the same. The experience isn't as trilling as it was the first time. The return of the trilling experience from going to the same beach after many times is less intense as it used to be; thus, diminished. It would take more and more different beaches to get that same excitement and even then, it would never be as fabulous as the first time. Well, I hope you get my point as you apply the law of diminishing return to remaining sexually pure. One little kiss want hurt, one might tell you. But, after several kisses what comes next, a tongue (the No Zone), then it would take more and more to achieve that excitement of the first kiss again and before you know it, you are partaking in sexually immoral activities as an unmarried couple. Don't let temptation diminish your prized possession of purity in taking the excitement and preciousness of that purity that is meant for you and that special person God has for you. Saying No is a gift too, believe it or not. Women as emotional creatures, saying No helps us in keeping our emotions in check, because let's face it we fall for a guy and put our emotions in it much deeper than they do; thus, helps keep ourselves safe and respectful. For men, in hearing No (even saying No, if he's a decent guy), helps him maintain respect for the woman, also helps him in maturity as he has to step up or step out. You are giving yourself a gift and the other, as well. So, purity a burden or obligation, I think not. It's a prized possession, guard it as such, as it guards you!

If you have compromised your purity, don’t believe the words of the enemy. You are worthy and you can experience hope and healing in the arms of our Lord!

Acrostic Poem - Happy Sunday

 Happy Sunday

Holy this day we worship Him
Applauding God for our being
Praise we lift our voice in a hymn
Prayers we send to Him agreeing
Yes, we say to His love that's never slim

Soon we will unite in heaven above
Union of this will be the best
Now we live in this hope we speak of
Days gone by that we are blessed
After all He gave them to us in love
Yesterday, tomorrow & today in Him we rest
      ©Doris Elaine

Thoughts: Happy Sunday, indeed! Every day can be a happy day when one devotes them self to the Lord Jesus Christ. We rest our hope in Him in prayers that go up to Him every day. Singing a praise of thanks as we worship Him on Sunday is a blessed sound in union He hears. But, we can in every day of the week thank Him for our very existence and that is the happiness we have dwelled in yesterday and are going to dwell in tomorrow as we rest in Him today. Happy Sunday!

A Poem by Donna L. Mihura

The Single Gift

How blessed you are, you single one,
Don’t talk of care and woes.
You’ve got too much to be thankful for,
Oh what, you’d like to know.
Of God’s perfect plan
That you’ve not found your special lady
Or you, that certain man.
God loves you so and has much more
To give than you’ve ever received.
That He’s giving His best to you right now,
You really must believe.
His best is Himself, do you have it in full,
Or only a bit on the side?
No man can meet your needs like God,
Nor can a lovely bride,
If your life's not complete, you know that Jesus is
And your life He will fill
If you’ll only put Him first every day
And live to do His will.
He’s gifted you for undistracted
Devotion to the Lord.
There should be nothing that can interfere
With Him and prayer and the Word.
Unless you let the guard of your heart
And let others take His place,
Then you’ll lack joy and peace and hope
And not experience His grace.
So give your heart right back to God,
Let Him keep it safe for you,
And when it’s better than His best,
He’ll make one into two.
By Donna L. Mihura

Thoughts: Being single is a precious and privileged time. One may never again-once attached to another-have as much time to glorify God and develop a relationship with the Lord, as when one is single and undistracted by others. Treasure your days in your kingly Father's chambers in His presence and thank Him for the time you are able to spend with Him. A Scenario: A married woman with two children gets up early to spend time in her Bible with the Lord. She sits down on the couch, opens her Bible and starts to read. Then a voice from upstairs "Is it time to get up", she then retrieves her child, brings the child down, sits the child on the couch with the child's favorite book to read. She then opens her Bible again to continue to read. Then her second child comes running down the steps about ten minutes later. She then takes them both to the kitchen and fixes then something to eat. Oh no, where did the time go? After they eat, it is now time to get them ready for school. She spends time dressing them, getting their lunches ready and sees them onto the school bus. Thinking she can now get back to her reading the Bible, her husband comes down the steps in a panic, his button fell off his work shirt and she needs to sew it back on. After sewing his button back on she now fixes him breakfast and sees him off to work. The early morning time with the Lord is now gone. The rest of her day is spent on housework, errands for the home, getting ready for her children's return from school, and getting dinner prepped and cooked. Then cleaning up after dinner, getting the children bathed and ready for bed. Then time with her husband is needed and warranted. Now, time to rest as her day ends. Her time with the Lord had escaped her in tending to others in her household. The End! Although, not every married couple with children experience this, the point is with others in one's life the chances of being distracted from spending time with the Lord is much greater, than one that is single. Use your singleness to glorify God. Never deny Him His deserved glory, the blessings in return will be greater than you can imagine. (Mostly in knowing Him). It's your choice, to look at singleness as a curse or a blessed and precious time. Give your heart to Him to protect, for as a single He is your Best. And, if he does have someone for you, the wait will be well worth the time spent with Him as He prepares you for your future; rather, that future includes a significant other or not. Be joyous in knowing He has you as He is looking out for you in your singleness in grooming you for a wonderful and blessed future. Singleness, a curse or a time of longing for another in pain? I think not! It's more of a Gift to enjoy of undistracted time in the presence of God!
